Ute Langanky

In 1994, Ute Langanky (born in 1957) and her husband, poet Thomas Kling, were invited by Karl-Heinrich Müller to move into the Turmgebäude (Tower Building) on former missile base Raketenstation Hombroich. A freelance artist, Langanky continues to work in her studio here, primarily through the medium of painting and photography, often involving digital processing as well. Since the death of her husband in 2005, she has also managed, on a voluntary basis, the Thomas Kling Archive at Stiftung Insel Hombroich, which she had previously set up in their former workspace.

Between 1976 and 1984, Langanky studied under Gerhard Richter and Alfonso Hüppi at Düsseldorf Art Academy while pursuing philosophy studies (primarily under Walter Biemel) at Düsseldorf University at the same time. This was followed by numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad and various publications, some together with Thomas Kling. Ute Langanky lectured at Koblenz University from 2012 to 2019.
