Workshop of Arts and Sciences

Promoting dialogue between the arts and sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia – that is the goal of the new fellowship programme launched by the Kunststiftung NRW in collaboration with the Centre for Life Ethics (University of Bonn) and the Insel Hombroich Foundation.
The first public presentation of the fellowship programme Workshop of Arts and Sciences will take place as an all-day parcours at the Hombroich Raketenstation: as a spatially diversified collection of materials, as an exhibition spread across the grounds.
The starting point for the artistic works, discourse sketches and theoretical reflections of the eight fellows created for this occasion is the image of the ‘tipping point’. The point of no return, after which everything will be different (even if we may not yet realise it): tipping points of global warming, of species extinction; tipping points between humans and non-humans, between genders, between the global North and the global South. Tipping points in our understanding of enlightenment, modernity and progress. Tipping points that are often a matter of perspective.
The exploration of these topics within the framework of the fellowship programme forms the basis for a transdisciplinary dialogue that will be made public on this day – in the form of a working meeting, a presentation and a celebration. You are cordially invited to move freely through the area and dramaturgy with a map in hand: What overlaps between the works emerge? How do they enrich each other, how do they change when juxtaposed?
