Jan Ribbers extends the existing downspout of the guard­house and routes it around the building before it reaches the ground again at its original location. With this instal­la­tion, Ribbers inter­venes in an existing order without dissol­ving it. The purpose of the downspout remains the same, but its course changes. Verlaufen (getting lost) describes both the movement of the water and a possible disori­en­ta­tion, addres­sing the ambi­va­lence of detours.

The Wachhaus exhi­bi­tion series is a colla­bo­ra­tion with the Kunst­aka­demie Düssel­dorf, in which students create a new instal­la­tion on site every two months. After a cycle of six presen­ta­tions, one contri­bu­tion will be honored with an award in the following year.
