In October and November 2025, the Stiftung Insel Hombroich welcomes artist Hwakyeong Kim to Katharina Hinsberg’s studio for a guest residency. On Sunday, November 9, she will open the doors of the studio in the guest studio building to provide insights into her work.

During her stay at the Rake­ten­sta­tion Hombroich, Hwakyeong Kim will be working with the materials, colors, and shapes available on site. Hwakyeong Kim, born in Korea, lives and works in Düssel­dorf as a freelance artist. In her work, she explores the tension between the fragility of materials and their spatial presence. Using everyday materials, she expands the concepts of line and drawing. Delicate, seemingly peri­pheral elements develop their own presence in her works and give rhythm to the space. Through conscious enga­ge­ment with the materials, subtle but distinct traces of existence emerge.
