To mark the reopening of the central exhi­bi­tion pavilion, the Zwölf-Räume-Haus, the building will be open to the public until the end of September as a walk-through sculpture by Erwin Heerich, presented in its purest form and without the permanent coll­ec­tion on display. During this time—primarily on weekends—visitors will also encounter numerous artistic inter­ven­tions.

The space itself, its clear layout, and a very special light provide the setting for site-specific works of dance, perfor­mance, and music. The program focuses on the fleeting yet intense expe­ri­ence of the moment and on spatial struc­tures.

While some surprises remain, below is the gradually expanding list of projects and dates for an extra­or­di­nary summer at the Zwölf-Räume-Haus:

5 July, 2 pm
Gustavo Gomes, Perfor­mance
In Tintin­na­bulum, Gomes explores contem­po­rary cons­truc­tions of mascu­li­nity through movement and sound together with Davide Degano. Presented as a duet, the work unfolds as a living sculpture within the unique setting of the Zwölf-Räume-Haus and invites visitors into a space of contem­pla­tion and listening.

12 July, 1, 3 and 5 pm
Evamaria Schaller, Perfor­mance
The walk-in sculpture Zwölf-Räume-Haus serves as the driving force behind a perfor­mance usus that unfolds in three distinct yet inter­woven parts. Each perfor­mance incor­po­rates elements of the previous one and opens up a new space for inter­ac­tion. Actions leave visible and invisible traces on the site.

25 and 26 July
Thomas Klein, Sound Instal­la­tion and Perfor­mance
Twelve sound cubes will be placed in all twelve rooms over the course of two days, creating a harmo­nious sound­scape. In addition, perfor­mances will take place hourly between 1 pm and 5 pm on both days.

8 August, 12:30, 2 and 3:30 pm
Vokal­Or­chester, Vokal­per­for­mance
In their site-specific program Klang­räume / Raum­klänge the eight singers explore the reso­nances and energies of the Zwölf-Räume-Haus. They begin as a single large ensemble and gradually disperse over the course of the perfor­mance, only to come together again at the end.

22 August until 6 September
Ludwig Berger, Sound Instal­la­tion
In Crying Glacier, field recor­dings of the melting Morte­ratsch Glacier in the Swiss Alps — which the artist collected over the course of a decade — are brought to life. To capture these sounds, under­water micro­phones were lowered deep into crevasses, allowing the inner workings of the ice to be heard, much like a stetho­scope.

12 until 27 September
Reinhard Doubrawa, Perfor­ma­tive Instal­la­tion
For TRIGGER, six column-like elements mounted on casters will be installed; their dimen­sions are just large enough to allow them to be moved through the existing doorways of the twelve rooms. When set in motion as part of a perfor­mance, they create snapshots of order and disorder—giving rise to constel­la­tions such as a classic central sculpture, a corridor, or a barrier.

12 September, 12 and 5 pm
VOTUM, Perfor­mance
The duo, consis­ting of Barbara Schachtner (vocals) and Roger Hanschel (saxophone, compo­si­tion), will perform excerpts from their song cycles—featuring texts by Simone Weil, Antonin Artaud, and texts drawn from the mysticism of Chris­tia­nity, Judaism, and Islam—at various points along the walk-through sculpture.

13 September, between 1 and 5pm
Peter Morrens and Reinhard Doubrawa, Perfor­mance
O/0 is a long-duration perfor­mance about language, power, and the attempt to create order despite misun­derstan­dings. Using mega­phones, commands, and letter-objects, the artists draw visitors into a tension between cons­truc­tion and destruc­tion.
