At the end of May, the Stiftung Insel Hombroich will open an exhi­bi­tion on the work of the Dutch artist Bart van der Leck (1876–1958), who is considered one of the most important repre­sen­ta­tives of the De Stijl movement. For the first time, the extensive holdings, which consti­tute one of the largest Van der Leck coll­ec­tions worldwide, will be brought together and presented in their thematic diversity. In dialogue with contem­po­rary art, the exhi­bi­tion illus­trates the artistic relevance and consis­tency of van der Leck’s oeuvre. Works by Karina Bisch, Nicolas Chardon, Imi Knoebel, Erik van Lieshout, Florian Meisen­berg, Andreas Schmid, Boris Tellegen and Yoana Tuzharova enter into a dialogue with those of Van der Leck and bring the questions about the rela­ti­onship between colour, image and space into the present.
