“When I was asked by Frank Boehm to curate the former living quarters of the Graubner Atelierhaus with works from the collection of Karl-Heinrich Müller, I was also offered to select works from the archive that were not shown in the permanent collection in the Labyrinth. There, while rummaging through archive lists, drawing cabinets, and art depots, I found a collection that was previously unknown to me.
I found the works of former colleagues from Gotthard Graubner’s class at the art academy in Düsseldorf as well as the works of the artists living and working at the rocket station Hombroich particularly interesting. They are to be the focus of my selection. Likewise I selected wonderful chair objects, which are to a large extent in the classical modern age as well as some paintings of old masters. As far as the Asian, African and Egyptian areas are concerned, I came across impressive sculptures and objects from everyday life, which, as is the tradition on the island, will be integrated into the exhibition concept.”
