Hombroich Literature and Art Institute / Kahmen Collection

Invited by the founder of the Stiftung Insel Hombroich , the collector, art historian and German scholar Dr Volker Kahmen (1939–2017) moved into the Rosa Haus in the old park of Museum Insel Hombroich at the turn of the millennium, where he set up parts of his collection in a permanent museum installation. The result is a contemporary ‘chamber of art and curiosities’. The rooms, furnished with manuscripts, books, original documents, original contemporary graphic art, photographs, paintings and drawings, as well as everyday objects, minerals, fossils and archaeological artefacts, can be viewed on a guided tour of the house.

The Rosa Haus is also home to the Literatur- und Kunstinstitut Hombroich, a non-profit foundation founded by Volker Kahmen. It preserves and looks after Kahmen’s collections and the Werner Kraft Archive and Bruno Goller Archive.

The Kahmen Collection in the Rosa Haus can be viewed as part of a guided tour for groups of up to 5 people. A group tour lasts approx. 90 minutes and costs €120.

Individuals also have the option of joining an open tour (cost: €24 per person, max. 5 people). Special conditions apply for pupils, students, etc. The tours take place irregularly. As soon as the next dates are fixed, you will find them here.
